Abstract:
GDA CropID 2022 Russia map is a GIS raster format product with 250-meter spatial resolution. The map covers all Russian provinces (oblasts) that are major producers of winter wheat, winter barley, and rice. Mapped provinces account for approximately 92% of winter wheat, ~96% of winter barley, and ~93% of rice production in Russia (per RosStat, 5-year average). The map offers 2 crop type classes, including 2022 small grain (winter) and rice locations. The map is based on the deep time series analysis of optical satellite imagery.

2022 refers to the crop harvest year.

GDA CropID maps utilize time series of GDA GeoChronicles™ imagery coverages. GDA GeoChronicles™ are global deep time series of 10-day, 10-meter analysis ready imagery coverages produced by GDA Corp from Copernicus Sentinel-2A / 2B and Landsat 8 / 9 imagery.

GDA uses deep time series of GeoChronicles™ composites to identify crop type locations during each given season.

The CropID product is produced by GDA Corp for USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (USDA FAS) under a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contract with the USDA/FAS/GMA/IPAD.

The 250-meters CropID product was originally produced at 30-meters spatial resolution. The final 30-meters crop mask was resampled to 250-meters for use on the USDA/NASA Global Agricultural Monitoring (GLAM) system at https://glam1.gsfc.nasa.gov/.
