Abstract:
GDA CropID 2023 Eurasia map is a GIS raster format product with 250-meter spatial resolution. The map offers 2023 rapeseed and winter small grains locations for select countries in Europe and the Middle East. Winter rapeseed is mapped in Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Moldova, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom. Spring rapeseed is mapped in the Belarus and the Baltic states. In addition, the map covers all Russian provinces (oblasts) that are major producers of rapeseed. Mapped provinces account for approximately 94.2% of combined spring and winter rapeseed planted areas in Russia (per RosStat, 5-year average). Winter small grains are mapped in Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Hungary, Ireland, Kosovo, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, and Ukraine.

2023 refers to the crop harvest year.

GDA CropID maps utilize time series of GDA GeoChronicles™ imagery coverages. GDA GeoChronicles™ are global deep time series of 10-day, 10-meter analysis ready optical satellite imagery coverages produced by GDA Corp by fusing Copernicus Sentinel-2A and Sentinel-2B imagery and NASA / USGS Landsat 8 and Landsat 9 imagery.

GDA uses deep time series of GeoChronicles™ composites to identify crop type and land cover locations during each given season.

The CropID product is produced by GDA Corp for USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (USDA FAS) under a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contract with the USDA/FAS/GMA/IPAD.
