Resource Abstract:
The dataset provides global maps describing the land surface into 23 classes, which have been defined using the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization’s (UN FAO) Land Cover Classification System (LCCS).

Resource Classification Categories:
Cropland fractional percent coverage is the percentage of 100m pixel that is covered by cropland.
For the discrete landcover data layer, landcover value 40 is cropland category or cultivated and managed vegetation/agriculture.

Reprocessing for MODIS-GLAM (250-meter) applications:

  1. Percent fractional cropland coverage values from 5-100 were set to binary value of 1.
  2. The cropland data was resampled by nearest neighbor technique from native 100m to 250m cell size for use on USDA/NASA GLAM.
