Resource Abstract:
We present a map of closed-canopy oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) plantations by typology (industrial versus smallholder plantations) at the global scale and with unprecedented detail (10 m resolution) for the year 2019.
Resource Classification Categories:
The images have a spatial resolution of 10 meters and contain three classes: [1] Industrial closed-canopy oil palm plantations, [2] Smallholder closed-canopy oil palm plantations, and [3] other land covers/uses that are not closed canopy oil palm.
Reprocessing for MODIS-GLAM (250-meter) applications:
The 10-m cropland was resampled to 250-meters spatial resolution for cropland (palm oil) data drilling on MODIS-GLAM. The resampling steps follow:
